Today is my first day (physically) back at work. While y’all are getting ready to wind down for a restful weekend, I’m up to my armpits in young adults. That’s a bad image. I could probably say that another way. Anyhoo. While I attempt to direct imbibable data into thirsting minds, here’s a few thoughts to ponder. I never run out of things to wonder about and thought I’d share since my schedule is packed until sometime next August.
1. Who’s idea was this working gig anyhow?
Give me a name so I know who to blame. I’m really fed up with this idea of having to waste so much time producing an income. There are things I would rather be doing: reading a stack of good books, writing a stack of good books, figuring out how to make my house self-cleaning, building a greenhouse, learning how to cook Cambodian food, and…well, let’s just say the list is lengthy.
2. Why doesn’t money grow on trees?
I feel this is a perfectly valid question. Horticulturalists can hybridize all sorts of plants by grafting a bit of this onto a bit of that, and geneticists can hybridize all sorts of animals, even the ones nature decided really should be stand-alones. So how do we do something useful like crossbreeding an ATM with an evergreen? Think on it, send out feelers and get the process started. Really. Technogeeks unite and give it a shot.
3. Who decided there would never be enough time?
That’s another name I want, another head aimed for the chopping block. As soon as that nifty time machine is completed, I’m zipping back to the moment “time” began and giving that so & so with the calendar, a piece of my mind. If it weren’t for that ninny-headed decision, I’d get a lot more done. I bet you would too.
4. Why don’t more men ditch the pants?
Honestly?! Maybe they don’t realize they’re missing out on comfort and ventilation. Ladies know a man in a sarong is hot. A man in a kilt makes feminine knees wobble. Don’t take my word for it – ask around. I’ve got nothing against a nice pair of snug jeans, but I’m just saying – a little clothing experimentation is not a bad thing. Embrace the change!
5. Why can’t I have my cake and eat it too?
Tell me again why I can’t have it all. I don’t understand why this shouldn’t be possible. I’m willing to try. I’m game to give it a shot. If I didn’t have to waste time on details like working, or producing an income, worrying about time to do everything, and having to search out men in skirts to ogle…I’d be able to have it all. Whatever IT is. That’s my line of reasoning.
Now, should you manage to reach useful recommendations about any of these ponderables, or you just want to rail about the inconclusiveness of the universe, feel free to espouse. Comments welcome.

This is a great list. Alas, no answers for you. But I am strangely drawn to the idea of more men in sarongs.

I think having men forego the oppression that is pants is definitely one way of having our cake and eating it too. 😉

Fabulous idea … men getting back into the toga/kilt mode. I love the way your brain works, and always leave your blog with a smile.

You are too funny. I’m still laughing. I like the idea of spending our time reading and writing books instead of working for money. I wish we didn’t have to work to live. I think men should wear skirts and painful shoes.

Deborah – It's a well-known fact that men-in-sarongs make the need for answers irrelevant…thus another reason why having MORE would be pleasant. Thanks for drifting through. = )

Annalise – You clever girl…responding to two list items with one simple comment! And it is true, foregoing the oppression that is pants makes me want to celebrate with cake. *wink wink*

Marion – Thanks for the visit! I bemoan that clothing styles become ever more androgenous and uniform. There's so much excellent style from all around the world – I'd sure like to see more of it here. hmmm….there's an idea.

Megannafke – Thanks for visiting! I'm all for getting paid to read and write books…but I think most of us are in that crowd. As for the skirts, I'll give any man the pass on painful shoes if he'll adopt something besides the trousers. lol

Whee! I’ll shall make the time to tend to my money tree and eat some cake while meeting more pants less men.

Super great list! I must say though…not all men look good in a saraong. Just sayin'…some are just, well, not good. :)And yes, I need to work on that money tree..mine hasn't bloomed not even once! I think I maybe shouldn't have bought it off that guy with the missing teeth. He was wearing a saraong. 😉

I like the money tree, it would make Autumn something to look forward to besides football!Cranky Old Man

Elena – If you're buying money trees from toothless men…sarongs are the least of your troubles. You're right though, not everyone is physically designed for a sarong, but kilts, robes, togas – there's a range for everyone. Next time you see that guy make a suggestion, maybe the money tree is just waiting for positive reinforcement…I'm babbling now. Nevermind.

Joeh- Thanks for visiting! I too like the idea of money trees and must confess I hadn't considered how cool autumn would be as a result. Of course they'd be deciduous and money would fall like leaves. That's such a good visual. Somebody needs to draw that up and post it somewhere.
