Merry Christmas! Happy Hannukah! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Yule! Happy Sunday!
It’s holiday time, what are you doing here? Nevermind. I’m glad you dropped by. Wherever you are, whatever you celebrate or don’t, I hope you’ve had a great day.
I’m spending mine with family. There are only thirteen of us this year – pretty small compared to the holiday gatherings of my youth. We’ll visit, exchange presents, gab on the phone with far away relatives, argue about stuff that happened decades ago, and enjoy the company.
That really means eating a bunch of home-baked goods, a delicious dinner, drinking an assortment of bad wine and maybe even a cocktail, and eventually playing several round of high-stakes gambling with a game of swipe-the-cheap-ass-present from one another over the Pokeno cards.
That’s how we roll, baby.
What’s the BEST thing about your holiday celebration? Is there snow on the ground or palm trees swaying in the breeze? Do you relish the company or secretly check the clock for the grand exit? Receive any thoughtful gifts, unforgettable greetings, shocking surprises?
