Listen to a Waltz

Waltzing is an energetic dance form – although I suppose that statement applies to most forms of dance. As someone who appreciates watching smooth footwork, an accomplished pair can make a waltz look like they’re floating across the floor. It’s lovely to watch. A surprising variety of waltzes remain popular today even though we don’t often think of them as a part of our lives. More often than not we now identify these classics of the past by the videogames and movies in which they are featured. Check out a few of the perennial favorites and see if you recognize any of them:

Vienna Blood (Strauss)

Waltz No. 2 (Shostakovich)

Valse Sentimentale (Tchaikovsky)
